Biography

Luke Ashton joined McConnan Bion O’Connor & Peterson in 2025 and maintains a broad litigation practice focused on corporate and commercial disputes, personal injury litigation, estate litigation, creditors’ remedies, construction law, and real estate litigation. He is also developing a growing practice in criminal defence and other quasi-criminal matters.

Luke is particularly drawn to advocacy and courtroom practice, and approaches disputes strategically and pragmatically, with a focus on protecting and advancing his clients’ interests at every stage of a proceeding. His approach is marked by disciplined advocacy, tactical insight, and an ability to position clients effectively in complex disputes.

Prior to entering the legal profession, Luke worked in the forestry, resource, and infrastructure sectors across Northern British Columbia and Alberta, experience that continues to inform his practical and business-oriented approach to legal disputes. He later completed his Bachelor of Laws at Bond University while working with one of Queensland’s leading commercial litigation firms before returning to British Columbia to pursue a career in law.

Beyond his legal practice, Luke is a lifelong martial artist with longstanding interests in art, design, and experiential culture. He serves as a Director of the Vancouver Island Bonsai Society and remains deeply connected to the West Coast’s community and natural environment.
